With the outbreak of COVID-19, lockdowns were imposed throughout the world. And amidst lockdown, a new history made its way through the digital doors of poker, i.e. online poker.

Almost daily new tournaments took place with the highest prize money at stake. Every poker site kept their best foot forward. With the WSOP Circuit Series, Partypoker’s WPT, PokerStar’s Scoop, and almost every other poker giant came out with the biggest scoops.

With all the big tournaments and huge prize money to be won, poker players broke the record with their active participation. With every guarantee surpassing, more than $800 million were paid to date, in the online world of poker since March 2020.

Over these few months, with staying at home rule being imposed, a huge interest growth among different poker players became quite evident. Poker sites received more new registrations, re-activations, and active participants than ever before. In a way, the poker industry experienced a sudden boom with all the increased traffic.

The trend of bigger tournaments began with PartyPoker’s flagship Powerfest Series followed by $100 Million WSOP Super Circuit Series and PokerStars‘ Scoop $85 Million which due to vaguely positive responses went way up to $135 Million shattering all the records.

Along with these giants, 888poker XL Inferno and Unibet double size online series was a big hit too. With guarantees being smashed with every tournament, the poker industry witnessed one of its best eras.

Stay tuned for more updates.
