Aditya Agarwal: India’s Top Poker Player Who Lets His Cards Do All The Talking

Aditya Agarwal is one such Indian poker player who followed his passion since his college days. He very well knew the potential of poker as a career and soon enough, with his hard work and dedication, he established his image as one of the best poker players this country has ever witnessed.

With more than 80 cashes listed in his poker CV, Aditya sits proudly on the 3rd spot on the All-Time Money List.

Poker Journey So Far

While studying engineering at Philadelphia’s Drexel University, poker accidentally crossed paths with our poker pro in 2003. He glanced upon Espn featuring the 2003 World Series Of Poker and was instantly hooked. He then really got into the game and initially played $5 and $10 Texas Hold’em games in the dorm. Back then with a lot of deposit bonus schemes, his interest in online poker took a rise.

He thanks his lucky stars that despite being considered a taboo, his parents supported him while he chose poker as a profession. To have a smooth sail, he switched from engineering to marketing so he could graduate alongside.

When he was barely 21 years old, Agrawal followed his passion and took active participation in WSOP. Along with Vivek Rajkumar, Aditya Agrawal became one of the first Indians to bank cash rewards.

With EPT Barcelona 2007, he managed to bank a lion’s share of $34313 along with various wins across India. In 2008, he was among the top 100 players at the World Series Main Event where he cashed out 3 times and banked $51466 to his credit.

2017 was a great year for our poker player. He travelled across the US participating in live tournaments, then spent 3 months in Vegas followed by Macau Poker Cup. He is currently on a mission to create awareness and educate newbies about poker in India.

In July 2019, Pune Police raided a prominent five-star hotel and arrested nine prominent businessmen namely Ashish Mittal, Aditya Agarwal, Gaurav Agrawal, Abhishek Agrawal, Rishabh Gupta, Suraj Goyal, Jayesh Gupta and Govind Laxmikant and seized cash estimated to be worth ₹32,000 during the raid.

This top Indian poker player soon managed to score a spot among PokerStars pro. But after 5 long successful years, in December 2019, Aditya decided to take a step back along with Argentinian pro Leo Fernandez and leave PokerStars.

Advice To Newbies

Test the shallow end before diving deep
