Paawan Bansal: India’s Best Poker Player Believes It To Be 100% Skill Based Game

Paawan Bansal and poker crossed paths when his friends introduced him to poker in his very first week at Singapore University. Initially, he started small with $2 buy-ins which later progressed to $5-$10 playing with his peers. While watching the same few people win big, Paawan felt poker was meer luck based game like Teen Patti but his perception changed with time. Now he believes poker player wins when he uses his skills the right way.

He then got really into poker, started researching about it, reading more and more about it, watching a lot of videos on Youtube where players played with high stakes and what moves they pursue. After trying his hand at Zynga for over a year testing different moves, he soon mastered the skills and is now one of the best Indian poker players.

Poker Journey So Far

Belonging to Meerut, this poker gem skyrocketed his fame when he became a runner up at NLH Knockout Event No 9 at Macau Poker Cup and banked $71624. He also stood on the first position proudly at NLH Event no 5 and won a jaw-dropping amount of $75000. Then came July 2018 where he managed to come to close second at 49 WSOP NLH The Closer Event No 75 and proudly took home $378765.

Future Plans

Paawan Bansal plans on travelling as much as he can as the situation gets better.  He loves travelling and taking part in different circuits and international tournaments. He is also hopeful of getting people to watch poker with non-judgemental eyes.

Advice To New Poker Players

He advises to reach out to your peers. Everyone in the poker industry is very welcoming and helping. Learn from them. Travel more and interact one on one with the masters. He also states, that poker is not at all luck-based game but 100% skill-based. You need to keep brushing your skills and keep learning.
